Bridgton is only: 3 hours from Boston, Mass; 1 hour from Portland,
Maine; 1/2 hour from North Conway, (another vacation spot of great acclaim)
or 1 1/2 hours from coastal Freeport, Maine (a shoppers paradise). Bridgton,
Maine, is a quiet little town of 3,000 residents. Bridgton is probably the
town the State of Maine was thinking of when it came up with the slogan
"Maine, the way life should be". Maine claims to be "Vacationland". After visiting a town like Bridgton, you can see why!
Bridgton's "Four
Season's" are very distinct:
Winter is ideal for hunting, skiing,
skating, and all cold weather activities. Fireplaces and wood stoves
are most often used to "warm-up those cheery cheeks".
Spring is still brisk and filled with the thawing of the lakes and streams.
Summer is the liveliest, most active season and perfect for swimming, and boating in those dethawed lakes and streams (Bridgton has seven swimming lakes). Summer is also the best time for hiking the mountains, picnicing, and bar-b-queing.
Autumn is "Leaf Peeping" season and filled with picturesque "Postcard Quality" scenery.
Bridgton's antique shops are numerous.
Bridgton's Drive-In (movie theater) is open all summer. It's indoor Magic Lantern theater is open year-round.
